About

I am a lifelong social entrepreneur who believes in the best of humanity when we work together. For 25 years, I have worked in change catalyst roles in transformative initiatives to drive impactful and beneficial solutions to societal challenges. I've done this in three separate careers arcs — US politics, sustainability & impact investing.

I love to bring people together in genuine discussion, connection and discovery. I want to know what moves people, what’s important to them, their families and their communities. At the intersection of these themes, I try to find commonality and purpose — to see what emerges — so that we might create stories and experiences that make us feel like we belong to something greater than ourselves.

In 2023, I emerged from a nearly 2-year sabbatical - a transformative experience wherein I worked to recalibrate my life around an acceptance of the challenges created by modernity. I dove deep into my inner development & wellbeing, trauma-informed decision-making and collapse awareness. I began a humbling journey of learning from wisdom communities about how they connect to the world, to each other and to something bigger than themselves. I now work with others to create a new story for our lived experience, combining this knowledge and experience to help others connect and learn ways to live fully on this planet with a deeper sense of connection to our natural world, ourselves and each other.

As for the personal experiences I draw from, my work has spanned across sectors and geographies on the leading edge of social enterprise, sustainability, impact investing movements. Here are some highlights:

- I helped pioneer the impact investing ecosystem, initiated the first Nordic impact investor network with Toniic, and launched and led Nordic operations for two of the world’s leading impact asset managers. I also co-founded the first social business accelerator in the Nordics.

- I started off in US politics with Al Gore's campaign for US President, then to various campaigns and legislative roles with Democrats, including Gavin Newsom, Governor Ed Rendell, Howard Dean & Senator Jim Ferlo.

- In 2007 I moved to Sweden to study in a pioneering Masters program in sustainability. I then worked as an international sustainability adviser for governments, corporates, and social enterprises.

- While in university, I helped launch a national social enterprise focused on poverty and workforce development.

- And lots of other interesting things (with some failures, too, of course) that I’m always happy to discuss.

MOD– Mer Organdonation, was founded in 2012 by Peter Carstedt and Martha Ehlin (1978-2016) and is a apolitical and religiously independent non-state-funded non-profit association. MOD's goal is that no one should die waiting for an organ, and for the past nine years we have become a leading movement in organ donation and the obvious voice for everyone waiting for a new organ. We fundamentally want to change the conditions for what it is like to wait for one or more organs.

As Chairman, I led an operational board that oversaw the organization's overall growth and expansion. During my tenure, we moved from a loose network, with ad hoc events and projects, to an organization that hired multiple staff members and increased it's budget by millions of kronor.

My most proud work in this role was leading the development of the first social business Incubator and Accelerator program in Scandinavia, called SE Outreach, in partnership with Sweden's International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida. The program works to scale the impact of social enterprises working in “developing countries”.
